About the Recipe

Ingredients
For the meatballs:
500g ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
1 egg
½ cup breadcrumbs
2 tbsp milk or oat milk
3 tbsp of the Taste of Italy spice blend
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil for frying
For the sauce:
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (796ml) crushed tomatoes
1 tbsp of the Taste of Italy blend
Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Step 1
In a large bowl, mix breadcrumbs and milk. Let sit for 2 minutes to soften. Add ground meat, egg, garlic, parsley, Taste of Italy blend, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined
Step 2
Roll into 1½ inch meatballs. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown meatballs on all sides (about 6–8 minutes total), then remove and set aside.
Step 3
In the same skillet, sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Pour in crushed tomatoes and 1 tsp of the blend. Season with salt and pepper. Add meatballs back to the sauce. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Serve hot with pasta, over rice, or in a hoagie roll. Enjoy!
